Extra Curricular Activities

In addition to class music, older children have the opportunity to learn to play an instrument. Small group lessons are within the school day and currently include flute, clarinet, keyboard, brass and drumming. We restrict children to learning only one of these musical instruments in school at any one time due to the time that they take out of the other areas of the curriculum.

Recorder lessons and choir are free of charge and are arranged by our school staff. These sessions are also within the school day, but not in curriculum time, so children are welcome to join both. Our musicians enjoy performing and we love hearing them in special assemblies and concerts.

Staff and/or professional sports coaches run after school sports each term. These clubs are for children in KS2. Details of the clubs available are sent out at the beginning of each term.

We are proud to see the many successes of our children when they compete against other schools and for some, even at district and area competitions as well. In addition to high levels of success, our children are usually the loudest supporters too!

Within school we award trophies at our swimming gala and Annual Sports Day which includes the eagerly awaited sprint races for each year group. All children take part.

Additional opportunities are available to compete in other sports. Although these vary from time to time, we currently offer Cross Country running, football matches, netball matches and athletics.
