To celebrate British Science Week 2020, each class had a day of Science activities based on this year’s theme ‘Our Diverse Planet’. We began our day thinking about what makes our planet diverse: people, species, habitats and materials. We learned how our body uses hormones to decide when to do things and created our own body clocks labelling when the different hormones increase in our bodies.

We found out that every person in the world has a unique set of finger prints and what the main types of fingerprints are. We made our own fingerprints using charcoal and closely examined them using magnifying glasses.


In the afternoon we discussed how camouflage works. We tried to find camouflaged animals in photos and watched a film about why plants and animals have camouflage. We then created our own camouflage butterflies to live in our classroom habitat. Here are a few examples:
